From the Ashton Canal high above, an overflow tunnel drops down into the River Medlock. While the tunnels may seem claustrophobic, to a seasoned Urban Explorer each and every tunnel, no matter how small, can hide the potential for further adventures.
Many of the Victorian drainage systems under the city open up into larger chambers or on to derelict processing plants – the ideal locations to spend some time, undisturbed, capturing images to later share on a forum.
With so many tales of undiscovered networks beneath the city every tunnel represents an exciting opportunity for discovery and renown.
